"The schools showing the most interest in me right now are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Vanderbilt and Marshall," said Herschel Houston from Centre, (Ala.). "I would say that Alabama and Auburn are my two favorite schools right now."
"While I was growing up I always liked Alabama. My uncle played there so that was a big reason why I liked them. I have always been around Alabama football. I like Auburn because they are close to home. I would like to stay close to home, but if I have to go somewhere else then I will."
The 6-0, 220-pound back had an impressive junior season, and his best game came in the semi-finals of the play-offs against Winfield.
"The Winfield game was by far my best game last season," Houston said. "I had 12 carries for 214 yards, and I scored two touchdowns. I finished the season with 1,865 yards, and I scored 28 touchdowns."
Throughout his junior season it was tough to find one player capable of bringing down the big back, and college coaches like him as a linebacker as well.
"My tackle breaking ability is my biggest strength," Houston said. "I really like going out there and running over people. I currently run a 4.6-forty [yard dash]. I would like to get it down to a 4.5 before next season."
Houston will take the ACT for the first time in April.
He will attend the Scout.com All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
