Spring Training Photo Report

Alabama's first day of spring training was the first day on the field for a handful of players and one Crimson Tide assistant coach. High school coaches and a prospect all the way from Chicago, Illinois also took in the beautiful day at Thomas-Drew Field.

Darnell Ratcliffe

Darnell Ratcliffe is an upcoming senior from Chicago who was in Alabama with his father Friday for Alabama's first day of spring training. Ratcliffe's late grandmother was from Tuscaloosa, and the father of the running back said he sent a highlight tape to Alabama and was invited down for practice.

Ratcliffe considers himself a running back or safetly prospect, but has played running back, quarterback and defensive back at Martin Luther King, Jr. high school in Chicago.

Mal Moore talked with the media about Alabama's new contract deal with Shula Friday. The deal, reported to be with $1.8 million annually, is expected to be finalized soon.
