"I have not received any offers yet, but Alabama has been sending me a lot of stuff in the mail," said Ricardo Bates from Prattville, (Ala.). "They send way more stuff than anyone else. I am hearing from just about all the schools in the SEC."
"The only favorite I have though is Alabama. It's just a great defensive place. If you play defense Alabama is the school you want to play for. They put a lot of great defensive players in the NFL as well."
The 5-11, 170-pound defensive back recorded 65 tackles, three interceptions, one sack and returned one interception for a touchdown during his junior campaign.
For his performance Bates was selected All-Metro, All-County, the best defensive back for the Lions, and he participated in the Alabama Junior All-Star game.
"I feel like my strength when I am out there playing is my vision," Bates said. "I am fully aware of everything that is happening around me. I go out there and I make plays."
"I would like to improve my speed (4.5) and quickness before my senior season."
Bates excels not only on the football field, but in the classroom as well. He sports a 3.1 GPA and will take the ACT for the first time in April.
Education will play an important factor in his college decision as he shared, "The two most important things for me when I make my decision will be the environment and my education. Education is the top thing on my list."
All three of the Prattville stars will participate in the Scout.com All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
