State's Top Receiver Talks Junior Day

Wide receiver Brandon Gibson joined the huge crowd of prospects in Tuscaloosa for Alabama's Junior Day. Gibson was impressed with the Crimson Tide.

"The visit to Alabama was real nice," said Brandon Gibson from Mobile-UMS-Wright, (Ala.). "I liked everything about it. I liked the coaches a lot. I gave them my highlight tape today."

"Everything was great. The whole coaching staff was really nice. I liked the campus, the athletic facilities and all the surroundings. There were over 270 juniors there today. There were a lot of people from Mobile. Phelon [Jones], Elliott [McGaskin], Terrell [Edwards], Sidell [Corley] and [Michael] McNeil were all there."

The state's top receiver watched the Tide's practice Saturday afternoon, and he sees a chance for early playing time.

"Alabama really isn't too deep at the receiver position," Gibson said. "I feel like if I end up choosing to go to Alabama, playing time for me should be fine."

"I really enjoyed watching practice. In a way it was similar to our practices at UMS. Everyone seems like they are having a lot of fun out there. There is a lot of excitement. I feel like I would fit in well. Coach [Mike] Shula's coaching style is very similar to my high school coach [Terry Curtis]. I liked it a lot."

Gibson enjoyed meeting his postion and recruiting coach during his unofficial visit.

"Coach [Buddy] Wyatt is my recruiting coach," he said. "I liked him. He gave me his card and said he would keep in touch with me. My position coach, coach Cheese,[Charlie Harbison] is real cool. He is a nice guy."

"Overall I loved my visit to Alabama today. They are still No. 1 on my list. I know I still have a lot of places to look though before I make my decision."

Gibson will return to Tuscaloosa April 29 for the All-American Combine.
