Prattville Defensive Back Visits Bama

Ricardo Bates took an unofficial visit over the weekend to Tuscaloosa for Alabama's Junior Day.

"The visit to Alabama was great," said Ricardo Bates from Prattville, (Ala.). "I really liked watching the players practice. Their practice is very similar to the way we practice."

"Everything about the visit was great. I like the environment a lot. I feel like I would fit in pretty good there."

"Bobby [Greenwood] and Travis [McCall] look great," Bates said of former Prattville teammates. "Bobby has added a lot of weight since high school. He is now up to 270 pounds. He is doing well at defensive end. Travis looked pretty good at tight end. He was out there running over people. I liked seeing that out of my former teammates."

The 5-11, 170-pound prospect spent time with his position coach, Chris Ball, during the visit.

"Coach Ball told me that I needed to keep working hard," Bates said. "He told me I needed to keep working on my speed and to add some weight. He said he would come to see me in the spring. I really like him a lot."

Bates was quick to respond when asked his overall thoughts of the Crimson Tide.

"To be honest I really want to go to Alabama," he said. "Their system is just like ours, and it would be an easy transition for me. Alabama is a great place."

Bates will return to Tuscaloosa April 29 for the All-American Combine.
