State's Top Linebacker Visits Tide

Rolando McClain is one of the top linebackers in the South in the class of 2007. McClain was in Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit, and he talks of his time at the Capstone.

"I attended Alabama's practice last Tuesday," said Rolando McClain from Decatur, (Ala.). "The visit went real well. I went down there to watch practice. I stayed around the linebackers the whole time. I spoke to the linebackers coach [Joe Kines], and I spoke to coach [Mike] Shula for a little bit."

"I thought the linebackers were pretty good. There weren't many who stood out, besides Juwan Garth. I think they are all going to get better and be very good this season."

The 6-4, 230-pound linebacker enjoyed his conversation with the Tide coaches.

"I really liked coach Kines," McClain said. "He had a lot of energy out there on the field. Coach Shula was telling me how he was glad I came down to visit. He was telling me how bad they wanted me to come to Alabama."

When asked his overall impression of his visit McClain replied, "I like Alabama a lot. Right now it's pretty much equal between Alabama and Auburn, but I like them. I really like their defense."

McClain will participate in the All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
