Hunter Named SEC Frosh of the Week

University of Alabama freshman right-hander Tommy Hunter, from Indianapolis, Indiana, was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after his performance against the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend in Tuscaloosa.

Hunter (9 G, 4-2, 3.27 ERA) recorded his first career complete game and earned his first SEC win as Alabama swept the Rebels for the first time since 1997. It was also UA's first home sweep of Ole Miss since 1991.

Hunter allowed two runs and six hits for his first win since March 8 at South Alabama. He walked one and added seven strikeouts against the defending SEC Western Division champions. After allowing a two-run home run in the third inning, Hunter blanked the Rebels on five hits over the last seven innings.

This is the second time this season Hunter has been tabbed freshman of the week by the league office. He earned the first honor with eight shutout innings in his first collegiate start against Florida International on Feb. 26.
