State's Top Defensive Tackle

Defensive lineman Kerry Murphy is one of the top overall prospects in the state of Alabama for the class of 2007. Murphy has received several scholarship offers, and he names a favorite.

"I have received offers from Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Clemson, Ole Miss and Texas," said Kerry Murphy from Hoover, (Ala.). "My favorite is Alabama of course. Everyone in my family are big Alabama fans. I have grown up my whole life liking Alabama."

"I have been down there a few times this spring for visits. I am going to A-Day this weekend. I like the coaches down there. They are very friendly. They seem like real good coaches."

Murphy took a visit to Auburn a few weeks ago, and he was impressed with the Tigers.

"Auburn is one of my favorites as well," he said. "I went down there about three weeks ago. I like it a lot down there. It was sort of the same as Alabama."

Murphy recorded 77 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and eight sacks during his junior season.

Murphy is a free-spirit on the gridiron, but knows his assignments well.

"I love doing stunts all of the time," he said. "It's a lot of fun. I love pass rushing as well."

" I want to improve on just about everything before my senior season," Murphy replied when asked of areas of improvements.

The Alabama Junior All-Star will likely make a decision before his senior season, but will take several visits to see what will help determine his college choice.

"I am really not sure what I will base my decision on," Murphy said. "I want to take a few visits this summer and attend a few camps. I am scheduled to attend Alabama's camp."

"I will probably wait until after the summer before I make a decision."

Murphy will participate in the Scout.com All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
