Friend Visits the Tide

Buckhorn wide receiver LyDarius Friend is a big, athletic prospect and has visited both in-state schools for their A-Day games. He talks of his time on both campuses.

"I went to Alabama's A-Day game on Saturday," said Lydarius Friend from New Market, (Ala.). "It went real good. I like it a lot. The game was fun to watch. It was real intense."

"I grew up an Auburn fan, but I really like Alabama. They are recruiting me harder than Auburn."

The 6-4, 205-pound receiver talks about his visit down on the Plains.

"It was a lot of fun," Friend said of his visit to Auburn. "I met with my recruiting coach and the receivers coach. They showed a lot of interest in me. I've been a fan of Auburn my whole life. I like it a lot down there."

Friend will visit Oxford this weekend to learn more about the Rebels.

"Ole Miss has been recruiting me pretty hard," he said. "I don't know too much about them. I am going there this weekend to find out everything I need to know."

Friend was named All-Metro, All-Region and voted as the best junior on his team in 2005.

When asked his strengths and what he hopes to improve Friend replied, "My hands and my blocking as a receiver are my two biggest strengths. I want to improve my speed and strength before my senior season."

It was a short and simple answer when Friend responded to the basis of his college decision. "I am looking for playing time," he said.

Friend will participate in the Scout.com All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
