The Alabama softball team of Coach Patrick Murphy really is impressing someone. For the first time in school history, the Crimson Tide received a Number One vote in the ESPN/USA Today College Softball poll.

And Alabama impressed enough voters that overall the Tide is ranked third in the nation in this week's poll.

Alabama (36-4) is one of four teams to receive first place votes, joining the top ranked UCLA Bruins, No. 2 Texas Longhorns and fourth ranked Arizona Wildcats.

Last week, the Crimson Tide posted another perfect weekend in conference play sweeping a three-game series with the Ole Miss Rebels along with winning its single game against the Samford Bulldogs.

Alabama is joined in the Top 10 by fellow conference teams Tennessee (No. 7) and Georgia (No. 10). Also representing the conference in the Top 25 are LSU at 11th, Auburn at 21st and Florida at 24th. The Mississippi State Bulldogs were among teams receiving votes.
