Virginia Twins Visit Alabama

Jamestown wide receiver Brandon Clear exploded onto the national recruiting scene following his Scout.com All-American combine performance in Durham (N.C.) last month. Clear took a recent visit down South to visit an SEC school along with his twin brother Bryon.

"Byron and I visited the University of Alabama last week," said Brandon Clear from Jamestown, (Va.) "I loved it down there. I never even considered Alabama, and now things have changed."

"The facilities were amazing. I really liked coach [Mike] Shula and coach Cheese [Charlie Harbison]. They took the time out of their busy schedules to show us around the campus. It was really nice."

Several aspects of the Tuscaloosa visit were impressive.

"I loved the feel of the school," Clear said. "I loved the coaches, and the academics left a good impression with me. Everyone made me feel at home. The people are really nice there."

"You know when you get that feeling when you step onto a campus you know you're suppose to be there? I felt like that at Alabama. I was amazed. I never visited, and I didn't know what to expect. Now Alabama is one of the leading candidates."

The 6-4, 206-pound receiver has yet to receive his first scholarship offer, but that may change very soon. Several college coaches are taking trips to Jamestown this spring.

"I am still receiving a lot of mail each day," Clear said. "Georgia came by the school. Virginia Tech came by. I know N.C. State is planning to come as well."

When asked to name favorites Clear said, "Right now I would have to say my favorites are Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Virginia Tech."

Clear plans to visit Ohio State and Penn State this summer.
