Ready to Pull the Trigger

Bradenton Academy wide receiver Jermaine McKenzie is one of the hottest prospects in the Sunshine State. He received two big offers last week. An early decision is expected.

"I received offers from Florida State and Alabama last week," said Jermaine McKenzie from Bradenton, (Fla.). "The Florida State offer was alright. It's just another offer for me. I am looking for a program I best fit in. They signed a big class last year."

"Alabama offered me last Tuesday. They are my No. 1 school. I like the tradition, coaching and the program. My cousin, Mike Ford, signed with them this past year. Coach [Dave] Ungerer and coach [Mike] Shula are coming by the high school this week."

"Coach Urban Meyer went to St. Pete Catholic today because he thought I still went there. My old coach called and told me about it today. He is coming back to visit sometime."

The 6-1, 170-pound receiver holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Kansas and West Virgina. He feels Boston College and Oklahoma are the next schools in line to offer.

When asked to name other favorites besides Alabama McKenzie said, "I like Miami as well. I really like the speed they have down there. I like their program, and I like their balanced offense."

McKenzie plans to camp at Alabama, Auburn and West Virginia, and a time-frame for a decision is set.

"I plan to make my commitment before June," he said. "I want to get it over with to concentrate on my senior season."

McKenzie will compete in the All-American Combine May 13 in Boca Raton.
