Pulls the Trigger

Bradenton Academy wide receiver picked up the scholarship offer last week he had been waiting for from the University of Alabama. He announced his verbal commitment today to the Crimson Tide.

"I made my commitment to Alabama today around 3:00 p.m.," said Jermaine McKenzie from Bradenton, (Fla.). "Coach [Mike] Shula visited the school today. Shortly after he left I called and made my commitment."

"It feels real good to be committed right now. I really like the tradition and the coaches at Alabama."

The 6-1, 180-pound receiver has seen his stock rise over the past few weeks, and his recruitment has not ended.

"I feel like my commitment is pretty strong right now," McKenzie said. "I still plan to visit a few schools like Auburn and Clemson."

McKenzie becomes the first high school verbal commitment of the Crimson Tide's 2007 class. He ranks as one of the best receivers in the Sunshine State.
