Shula Checks Out Evans

Offensive and defensive star Art Evans collected two new offers last week and saw a handful of college coaches visit Evangel Christian in Lakeland, (Fla.)

"I received new offers from Georgia Tech and Ole Miss," said Art Evans from Lakeland, (Fla.). "I felt pretty good about the offers."

"The Georgia Tech and Ole Miss coaches told me they had scholarships for me. They said I should receive them in the mail soon."

"We've had coaches from Miami, Alabama, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Georgia, USF, UCF and FIU come by this spring. The only head coaches that have come by were from Alabama [Mike Shula] and Georgia Tech [Chan Gailey]."

Evans feels more scholarship offers are forthcoming and said, "Ohio State is coming on pretty strong. I think Alabama is close to offering me as well."

"Duke, Georgia Tech and UCF have all called me this spring."

He is not naming favorites and will attend summer camps at Alabama and Duke.

Evans had an impressive junior season recording 62 receptions for 1,329 yards with 16 touchdowns and intercepted 11 passes on defense scoring two touchdowns. He returned eight punts for touchdowns as well.

Evans will participate in the All-American Combine in Boca Raton May 13.
