UMS-Wright Receiver Adds Two Big Offers

The state of Alabama is loaded at the receiver position for the class of 2007, and the best pure receiver is Brandon Gibson. The UMS-Wright star is up to nine scholarship offers.

"I was offered last week by Georgia and Georgia Tech," said Brandon Gibson from Mobile, (Ala.). "I was excited about those two new offers. Both Georgia and Georgia Tech are good schools. They are in my top five."

"My top five is Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and LSU. Alabama is still my overall favorite."

The Crimson Tide picked up a big verbal commitment last week from Bradenton Academy (Fla.) receiver Jermaine McKenzie. Gibson is still searching for the best fit for him.

"Coach [Buddy] Wyatt from Alabama was only coach to call me last week," Gibson said. "He was telling me I needed to go ahead and jump on board. I am just not ready to commit right now."

"I told him they are still my favorite. I just don't know enough about all these other schools that have offered me. I don't know if Alabama would be the best choice for me or not. I have to do more research."

Several schools have visited this spring including three head coaches.

"Today we had coaches from Clemson, Arkansas, Vanderbilt and LSU at the school," Gibson said. "Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Illinois came by last week. The head coaches that have been by were Les Miles [LSU], coach Mike Shula [Alabama] and coach Tommy Tuberville [Auburn]."
