Rolls with the Tide

Defensive back Chris Lett knew several days ago he was close to making his college decision. He has decided he will Roll with the Tide. Lett becomes the second verbal commitment for Alabama from the state of Florida.

"I talked to my mom couple days ago. We thought it was a good idea for me to go ahead and commit to Alabama," said Chris Lett from Pensacola, (Fla.).

"I actually made my decision Tuesday. I told the coaches Tuesday night. We decided to let everyone know about it today."

"I first talked to one of my coaches. He called coach [Bob] Connelly. I really like coach Connelly. He is real cool. He always told me what was going on. He is real nice. I talked to coach [Mike] Shula. He talked to me about what it means to be committed to Alabama. He told me to keep working on my grades. "

Lett stands 6-1, 210-pounds and knows his future position with the Crimson Tide.

"The Alabama coaches recruited me to play cornerback," Lett said. "I feel real good about my commitment to Alabama. I can't wait to get up there and play."

"I always felt good about Alabama. I enjoyed being up there when I went to visit. I liked the fans and the atmosphere. I felt like it was a good fit for me."

Lett will return to Tuscaloosa June 11 for the Tide's camp. When asked if he will take additional visits Lett replied, "I really don't know about that yet."

Lett chose Alabama over scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida and South Florida. He is the second verbal commitment from the state of Florida for the Crimson Tide's 2007 class.
