Teams Arrive on Thursday

Troy, Southern Miss and Jacksonville State will arrive at Sewell-Thomas Stadium tomorrow for practice in preparation of the Tuscaloosa NCAA Regional, which begins Friday at 2:30 p.m. with Troy (2) versus Southern Miss (3).

Alabama (1) plays host to Jacksonville State (4) at 6:30 Friday night.

Chairback seats in the prime spots at Sewell-Thomas Stadium sold out on Tuesday, but bleacher seats remained available through Wednesday at bargain prices. Alabama Head Coach Jim Wells and Alabama's leading hitter implored fans to come out and help provide the Tide with a home field advantage.

Fan attendence from the other schools is expected to be heavy, with each school a manageable drive from Tuscaloosa.

Alabama has the first practice session on Thursday, at 10 a.m., followed by Troy at 11:30 a.m. Southern Miss practices at 1 p.m. and Jacksonville State is scheduled to take the field at 2:30.

Wells said he plans to pitch Wade LeBlanc to open the regional, followed by Tommy Hunter on Saturday.

"If you have a number one guy, use him," Wells said. "I don't think we need to try to outsmart ourselves. The good news is there's not much of a dropoff from number one to number two."

All four teams will also attend press conferences tomorrow to set up the regional between 11:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.
