Louisiana Lineman Rolls with the Tide

Defensive lineman LaMarcus Williams had something to prove this summer, and it didn't take long for the University of Alabama to recognize the talented prospect. Williams received a scholarship offer, and he made his decision.

"I committed to Alabama yesterday morning," said LaMarcus Williams from Bastrop, (Louis.). "Coach [Buddy] Wyatt called me and offered me the scholarship. It felt so good to receive the offer."

"I went to the camp to put on a show. I thought I did really good. There wasn't anyone who could stop me. The coaches said I did well. I had to sit back and wait to see what would happen, and they offered."

Williams was holding a scholarship offer from Colorado but, he was waiting to see the offers extended after the summer camp circuit.

"The coaches told me I was high on their list, and they need defensive linemen," Williams said. "I have always wanted to play for a big time SEC program."

"They have really nice facicities, and they are doing all the renovations. They really like defense, and I do too. I have a chance to play early as well."

The Louisiana lineman was recruited by coach Charlie Harbison but, will play for coach Buddy Wyatt. He built a strong relationship during camp in Tuscaloosa.

"Coach Harbison is real cool," Williams said. "He always stayed in contact with me. We really hit it off this past weekend. I like coach Wyatt. I really like working with him. He is very intense. I liked him a whole lot more when he offered me."

Williams is not closing his recruitment completely as he stated, "Hopefully, I will still be able to take a few visits. I plan to still check out Auburn, Southern Miss, Mississippi State and maybe LSU. I am pretty sure I will go to Alabama though."
