Four-Star Linebacker Commits to Alabama four-star linebacker Rolando McClain has made his verbal pledge to stay in-state and play college football. McClain made his verbal commitment Wednesday to play for the University of Alabama.

"I committed earlier today to Alabama," said Rolando McClain from Decatur, (Ala.). "I felt like it was the time for me to commit. I was tired of the recruiting process. Right when I knew I wanted to go to Alabama I made my decision. I didn't think it would be this soon."

"I was trying to get in contact with coach [Chris] Ball but, he had bad reception. My girlfriend finally got a hold of him and told him the good news. I finally talked to him, and he was very excited. Coach [Mike] Shula is on a cruise. I didn't get to talk to him. I'm sure he knows about it by now."

The Tide has a rich tradition of producing great linebackers, and McClain is eager to add his name to the list.

"The main reason I am going to Alabama--because I am expecting to play and be a big-time player. I like being in the spotlight. At Alabama I just feel like they are going to need linebackers, and I am going to do whatever I can do to be the best linebacker on the team."

"I am in Virginia visiting but, I am going down there [Tuscaloosa] on Saturday to meet with coach Ball and coach Shula."

When asked about other visits McClain replied, "More than likely I probably won't take any other visits. I know I am going to Alabama for sure. It feels like a lot of weight lifted off my shoulders. I'm smiling from ear-to-ear right now."
