In-State Defensive Tackle Commits to Tide

Athens defensive tackle Alfred McCullough announced his decision to Alabama's coach Chris Ball on Saturday and the coach was excited to hear of his decision. McCullough talks of the reasons for his college choice and if that decision is final.

"Alabama is close to home, offers a chance to play early, and it felt like the right place for me," Alfred McCullough said from Athens, (Ala.).

When McCullough was in Indiana earlier in the summer he told he was ready to make his decision before his senior season and the timing was right when he returned home.

"I knew I'd commit before the season but, I wasn't sure it would be Alabama," he said. "Alabama is the place."

The Tide is seeking verbal commitments from defensive lineman and early playing time is readily available for the ones eager to earn it. McCullough knew the depth chart but, other tangibles in Tuscaloosa impressed him as well.

"Another reason I like Alabama is because of all the new buildings that are going to be in place for the athletes and their academics," he said.

His verbal commitment to the Tide is not rock solid and he replied when asked, "I wouldn't say I'm 100-percent committed. I will still keep my options open. I think I will stay with Alabama in the end though."
