Tide Among Favorites for Five-Star Safety

Scout.com five-star safety Stefoin Francois hasn't narrowed his list but there are three schools that stand out.

Why did scout.com rank Stefoin Francois the number two safety in the country?

In eight regular season games last season, Francois recorded a total of 141 tackles (67 solos and 74 assists), 5 1/2 sacks, and 2 picks.

What makes Stefoin's motor run?

"I think my ability to hit, cover, and I am well disciplined," stated the 6' 2", 215 hard hitting safety from East St. John. "I am also real strong (305 bench/415 squat), and that gives me the ability to shed blocks and make the big hit."

“The first thing that jumps out at you is that he will be a four-year starter on a Class 5A team,” said East St. John head coach Larry Dauterieve. “The kid has been in the line of fire. He has got great range and he will knock the snot out of you. When you see him on film he is always around the ball. And did I mention that he will knock your head off.”

The summer days are now over.

"We started back practicing on Monday. It went all right. The first day it was kind of slow. We are doing some new stuff. We got three new position coaches, so everybody is getting adjusted to one another and learning their new plays. I am going to be playing a lot of linebacker this year, but I am going to be playing some strong safety too."

Which colleges have been keeping in contact with Stefoin this summer?

"Really everybody, but the most would be LSU, Florida, and FSU."

And who is showing Francois the most love?

"Really, I would say LSU."

Has Stefoin had a chance to showcase his talents at any camps this summer?

"No, not really. I was working out with the team daily during the week, and I was working on the weekends. I did not get a chance to go to any."

Has Francois given any thought about the college games he would like to attend this Fall?

"I want to go to the LSU/Tennessee game and the LSU/Florida game. I want to see some more games, but those are the only ones I have given any thought to. There will be some more that I will attend."

Which colleges are now at the top of Francois' list?

"Really, I am wide open right now. But if I had to name some schools, they would be LSU, Alabama, and Florida State."

What stands out about LSU?

"I really like their coaching staff. I got a chance to go over there a couple of times this summer, and they just treat you like family. I have met a lot of their players and gotten to know them too."

And Alabama?

"They have a real good defense. They are real aggressive."

What are FSU's positives?

"They are all right. I like their coaching staff too."
