Five-Star Visits Alabama Thursday

The top player in the state of Alabama made an unofficial visit Thursday afternoon. Hoover defensive line coach Chris Davis and five-star defensive tackle Kerry Murphy visited with the Crimson Tide.

"I took Kerry down to Alabama today," said Chris Davis. "Everything went fine. Coach [Mike] Shula really wanted to see him. He knew he wouldn't be coming to the game this weekend."

"All the coaches and players talked to him. They all told him they wanted him to be a part of Alabama football. He really enjoyed it."

"I told coach Cheese [Charlie Harbison] that it was going to be a dog fight between them and Miami. He said he was ready to go to war."

"Of course all the coaches want him to commit to Alabama. They want him down there in Tuscaloosa. Coach Shula told him if he needed to take all of his official visits then take them. He said they would wait until signing day."

Davis thinks Murphy's recruitment will go all the way until signing day. A visit to Miami is being scheduled after Hoover's season.

"Coach [Joe] Pannunzio wants to get Kerry down there sometime after the season," coach Davis said. "We will probably go down there the first or second weekend in December. It may be the first weekend in January."

Hoover (2-0) travels Friday to Spain Park (2-0).

Murphy is tentatively scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend for an unofficial visit when the Tigers play host to LSU.
