Photo report: Day 2 of two-a-days

Cloudy skies gave the athletes a break from yesterday's oppressive heat, as the Tide players returned to the practice field for the second full day of fall camp.

With Coach Eggen looking on, Antwan Odom leads the defensive ends through the bag drill. Odom is working with the first unit, along with Nautyn McKay-Loescher and Kindal Moorehead.

Brian Bostick (left) confers with student coach Neal Thomas. One of the better Tide kickers of the last ten years, Thomas was brought in to help coach the several placekickers vying for the job this fall.

Senior tailback Ahmaad Galloway talks with position coach Lee Fobbs during practice. At this point Galloway and Santonio Beard are virtual co-starters at tailback, but Galloway would probably be listed No. 1.

Sam Collins rests up during a break. Collins is fully recovered from off season shoulder surgery, and his position coach Kenith Pope believes he'll have a big year.

Proving the "quick" part of his designation as Quick Guard, Justin Smiley (#78) pulls in front of Santonio Beard (#34) as his lead blocker.

Though the morning session was held under overcast skies, the staff was careful to give the athletes several breaks. Here Mark Anderson (#47) and Von Ewing (#60) talk with Todd Bates (#56).

With junior college transfer Ahmad Childress looking on, Defensive Line Coach Stan Eggen makes his point to the defensive tackles.

Senior Theo Sanders (#89) talks with newly designated fullback Greg McLain (#31). The medical retirement of Donnie Lowe prompted the move of McLain from linebacker to fullback (W), and the true freshman spent much of this morning's practice listening and learning from Sanders.
