Tide Verbal McClain Discusses UA Coaches

Scout.com four-star linebacker and Tide verbal commitment Rolando McClain tells us his thoughts of the coaching change at the University of Alabama.

"I'm not really sure," Rolando McClain said of the coaching change. "I mean, I had spoken with coach [Mike] Shula a few times when I went down to visit, but other than that I really didn't know him. I like coach [Chris] Ball my recruiting coach, and I like coach [Joe] Kines a lot. I would hope they wouldn't have to leave because of him [Shula] losing his job."

"I like Alabama, but more importantly I would like to play for coach Kines," McClain added.

The Tide is in immediate need of the linebacker position, and McClain is a strong candidate to play in Tuscaloosa as a true freshman. He is preparing in the off-season for the fall of 2007.

"I went out and got me a personal trainer, and I'm training right now," he said. "Linebacker wise, they need somebody to step-up and with my size now, 250, physically I'm capable of doing it. Linebacker is where I'm comfortable at. Hopefully, I won't get too big where I have to play defensive end, but I would like to play linebacker."
