Tide Entertains Four-Star Linebacker

Scout.com four-star linebacker Rolando McClain took an official visit to Alabama over the weekend. The Tide verbal commitment talks about his visit to Tuscaloosa and other official visits as well.

McClain arrived in Tuscaloosa late Friday night, but had long weekend beginning Saturday morning.

"My official visit went well," said Rolando McClain from Decatur, (Ala.). "

"Friday night I came in town and went to the hotel. I didn't do anything except go to sleep. I went to practice saturday. I met with coach [Joe] Kines and some of the players. We ate and then I watched practice."

"After practice we went to the basketball game. I was with my host, Sam Burnthall, the whole time. Hanging out with him went well. I had a lot of fun."

"We eventually went and got something to eat. That night we just sat around and played video games. Caleb Thomas was on his official visit as well. We were all hanging out."

"I talked to coach Kines and coach [Chris] Ball Sunday and did the academic part of the trip. Everything went really well."

"They [coaches] really didn't say anything about the coaching situation. I watched practiced, and I could tell there were a couple smaller linebackers out there. They said I could make a big impact as a person and a player. They think a lot of me. The expectations are very high."

"I just watched how players practiced without coach [Mike] Shula. I think coach Kines did a good job of the practice."

When asked his favorite part of the visit McClain replied, "Probably just staying with Sam and hanging out with the other players was the best part of the visit. Seeing practice and being around some people I am going to play with and people I play with now [Caleb Thomas]. It was all a lot of fun."

"I haven't decided yet," McClain responded if his verbal pledge is solid. "I might go with Caleb on one of his official visits."

"I think my commitment is good. I feel real confident especially playing under coach Kines. The main part for me is being able to play early. I just have confidence in myself. I have been working, and I know how hard I am going to work in the future for me to come in and play."
