Saban's First Commitment is a Big One four-star defensive tackle Kerry Murphy, from Hoover, (Ala.), gave his commitment to the University of Alabama this weekend. The Crimson Tide lead for Murphy's signature throughout his recruitment. He pulled the trigger on his official visit.

"I am very happy for him," said his mother, Rosetta Murphy. "Kerry gave his commitment today to Alabama. I am very happy for him."

Murphy's mother accompanied him to Tuscaloosa for the official visit, and she was impressed with the Tide's new head coach.

"I had a real good time this weekend," she said. "I really enjoyed myself. I love coach [Nick] Saban. I think he is going to do well."

Murphy is one several Hoover players who will sign with a Division-I school in February, but another official visit is on the horizon for Murphy before National Signing Day.

"I know at one time he wanted to visit Miami," Rosetta Murphy said. "He is really excited about his commitment to Alabama right now. His dad drove up from Montgomery to take him out to dinner and celebrate."

"I didn't question him tonight about that visit. He did plan to visit there January 26. He is just really happy about Alabama."
