With several teammates already committed McNeil and teammate DeMario Ambrose are scheduled to announce their decisions Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at a ceremony at Davidson. Having already visited Auburn, Tennessee and Florida State, McNeil is scheduled to visit Alabama this weekend before announcing his choice. Auburn's coaches are expected to be in the McNeil household tonight for an in-home visit with the prospect while in Mobile.
McNeil is a safety that is built like a linebacker and hits like one on the field.
Following his visit to Auburn two weeks ago McNeil rated the trip a perfect 10 and talked about the lack of depth at safety for the Tigers being a positive for Tommy Tuberville's club. A physical player, McNeil would have a very good chance to play immediately at safety where the Tigers are short on depth behind starters Aairon Savage and Eric Brock.
A powerful safety prospect, the 6-3, 200 McNeil finished his senior season with 90 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks. That came after a junior year in which he made 81 tackles and added four interceptions and two sacks.
Ambrose is a quality defensive end prospect for Davidson.
A 6-4, 240 defensive end, Ambrose is also scheduled to visit Alabama this weekend with McNeil. With offers from Purdue, South Carolina and Arkansas, Ambrose is still looking for an offer from the Crimson Tide and that could come this weekend with former commitments such as LaMarcus Williams and Sherod Murdock changing their commitments to Ole Miss and Pittsburgh respectively.
