"I made my commitment today."

Vestavia, (Ala.) tight end Chris Underwood had collected scholarship offers from UCLA and Southern Miss, but had not received much attention from the in-state schools until recently. Underwood received an offer from Alabama during his official visit and quickly made his decision.

"My visit to Alabama went real good," said Chris Underwood from Vestavia, (Ala.). "The coaches really liked me. Coach [Nick] Saban offered me a scholarship, and I committed. I made my commitment today."

"I was with coach Saban when I decided. He told me he can't wait for me to get down there and start working."

"I had been hoping they would offer me during the visit. I have been talking to the tight ends coach and the offensive coordinator. They said they really liked me, and it was up to coach Saban."

"Alabama is always where I wanted to go. I have been an Alabama fan my whole life. As a little kid going to the games I have always wanted to play there."

Underwood talks about the new coaching staff in Tuscaloosa.

"I think they have a really good coaching staff," he said. "All the coaches seem to know a good bit about the position they are coaching. Alabama did a good job at getting these coaches to come there."

There were several recruits in Tuscaloosa over the weekend for official visits. Underwood talks about his trip to the Capstone.

"It went real good," he said. "They showed us around the campus, and I saw all the athletic facilities. It was real good."

"My host was DeMarcus [Waldrop]. He was a real cool guy. He pretty much told me how everything was during the season. He let me know how it's going to be when I get down there. I hung out with him and Nick Walker basically the whole time."

Underwood is finished with official visits. He is a solid commitment to Alabama.
