Chavis Williams Commits to the Tide

Dora High School's defensive end Chavis Williams got what he wanted. A scholarship offer from the University of Alabama. The decision did not take long to switch from the Razorbacks to the Crimson Tide.

"Coach [Nick] Saban just left here 10 minutes ago," coach Johnny Wright said from Dora, (Ala.). "Chavis has decommitted to Arkansas and committed to Alabama. I didn't want to call you until I had news, and now I'm calling you."

Williams is a 6-5, 240-pound defensive end with a frame to grow. THE ASWA All-State performer excels with 4.6 speed and great pursuit.

"Coach Saban came up here and won him over. He had already had an official visit, but they just really wanted him. They really wanted him and trying to work out, they are just so limited on the scholarships right now. They offered, and he took it. He's excited about it."

Does this mean no Auburn visit this weekend? "No, he's canceled everything," Wright said. "Final commitment."
