"It went real good," Rolando Melancon said. "I had a lot of fun hanging out with the players and of course meeting coach Saban. Coach Saban is a real cool and calm guy. He is about as good as it gets. He doesn't let anything get in his way."
Melancon also talked about the Alabama facilities.
"They are real nice--first class in everything. Their academic center and everything is all real neat and state of the art," he said.
A Tennessee commitment has returned from Tuscaloosa. Where does Alabama play into his decision after visiting the Crimson Tide?
"Not really at all," he said. "It was a nice visit and all, but I don't think I will be changing my commitment from Tennessee."
"All of the other schools kind of backed out of me because of my grades, but Tennessee never did. They have been there for me. They have a family atmosphere, and I would like to be a part of that."
When asked if he is ready to call the Tennessee coaches to let them know he is sticking with the Volunteers, "No, not right now," Melancon told Scout.com. "I am going to think about it a little bit. Alabama was a real nice place. They were showing me the type of defense they are going to run. They need players that are my type like Claude Wroten, Kyle Williams and Melvin Oliver from LSU that are all in the NFL now."
"Coach Saban thinks I can be like those guys. I like to move around a lot on the line. Alabama is closer to home and offers some playing time, so I will consider that. I wouldn't say they (Alabama) are a factor. I don't think I will change."
Confused? So are we. Stay tuned to Scout.com for maybe a signing day decision for Rolando Melancon.
