We also hope that you appreciate that Scout.com (of which BamaMag.com and ‘BAMA Magazine are a part) has the largest and most professional staff and is the most used recruiting site.
Here is how we will be handling Signing Day for Alabama football fans. Our goal is to be accurate, complete, and fast.
Mitch Dobbs and Kirk McNair will be in the athletics department. As the football office receives FAXed letters of intent/scholarship papers and those players are pronounced as cleared for admittance to The University, we will provide a quick announcement. That will be followed by a brief story on the signee.
Players may begin signing scholarships at 8 a.m. local time.
Those who have followed signing periods for sports other than football and men's basketball know that there is sometimes a lag time while University administrators do the work to clear athletes before they can be announced. In football, the staff knows the prospects and that paperwork has been done prior to receipt of the FAX, which speeds the announcement process to nearly instantaneous.
Andrew Bone and his associates, as well as other Scout personnel, will be monitorning homes and schools for notes and news and providing that information throughout the day.
Mid-afternoon Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban will address the media on his first Crimson Tide recruiting class and we will have follow-up stories from that press conference.
As the final signees trickle in, Scout experts will analyze each class and provide national rankings, etc.
We are also working on the April issue of ‘BAMA Magazine (mailed in mid-March) which will include in-depth reports on each signee, a look ahead to 2008 recruiting, and Scout's national recruiting publication.
