Tide Softball Ranks High

For the second straight week the No. 2 University of Alabama softball team was listed as having the second best RPI in the country in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Simulated Ratings Percentage Index.

Alabama sits at 42-4 overall after winning two games over visiting Tennessee Chattanooga on Wednesday night. They are sitting at No. 2 in the USA Today/NFCA Top-25 and No. 3 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top-25. Arizona currently has the top RPI and the top strength of schedule.

The Crimson Tide sits just ahead of Northwestern who is 30-7 on the year. Rounding out the top-five are Michigan and Texas A&M. The PAC-10 has the highest conference RPI with two teams in the top-10. The SEC has three teams with Tennessee listed at No. 6 and LSU at No. 8 to make them the second highest ranked conference.

Bama will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Oxford, Ala. to square off against Mercer at 6:30 p.m.
