Alabama Players Of The Week
On offense, wide receiver Mike McCoy and tackle Mike Johnson earned Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors from the Alabama coaching staff. McCoy set a career high in receptions with six catches, a team-high in the game, for 47 yards. Johnson helped the Alabama running backs gain 176 yards on the ground, including two touchdowns from quarterback John Parker Wilson.
Defensively, safety Rashad Johnson and cornerback Simeon Castille were Co-Defensive Players of the Week. Johnson was third on the team with eight tackles and added his second interception of the season that led to a game-tying touchdown for the Tide. Castille added seven tackles, including one for loss, to go with one pass break-up in the loss to the Bulldogs.
Javier Arenas and Chris Rogers shared the honors on special teams. Arenas had a pair of kickoff returns for 32 yards in addition to one punt return for nine yards. Rogers had two tackles on special teams in the game.
The Tide will play its third straight nationally-televised game on Saturday when Alabama travels to Jacksonville, Fla., to face Florida State. Kickoff is slated for 4:07 p.m. (CDT) and can be seen on CBS.
