Six different SEC teams are ranked in the two major polls. The SEC continues to lead the nation against non-conference teams, going 30-9 (.769) thus far in 2002.

SEC Team by Team Capsules

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (4-2, 1-1 SEC)
Alabama is 8-2 in its last 10 games, dating back to last season. This is the Crimson Tide's best 10-game stretch since the 1999 season. The Crimson Tide opened that year with an 8-2 record. Alabama also won eight of 10 games that season from Sept. 18 through the SEC Championship on Dec. 4, 1999. Dennis Franchione seeks his 150th career win this Saturday against Ole Miss. Franchione has compiled a 149-72-2 (.673) record in 20 years of coaching. In addition, Coach Fran is seventh among active coaches with 149 career wins and 11th among active coaches with a .673 winning mark.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS (3-2, 1-2 SEC)
RB Fred Talley's 241 rushing yards were the second most by a Razorback in school history (271 by Dickey Morton vs. Baylor, 1973) ... Talley has rushed for 100 yards or more in eight games ... P Richie Butler has had eight punts inside the 20-yard line this season ... Against Auburn, Talley had an 80-yard TD run and QB Matt Jones added a 70-yard TD run ... Arkansas' 24 points scored in the first half was the most scored by the Hogs against an SEC team since scoring 31 against South Carolina in 1999 ... PK David Carlton hit a field goal and 5-of-5 PATs, taking over the kicking chores for Arkansas.

AUBURN TIGERS (4-2, 2-1 SEC)
Tiger freshmen have accounted for five of AU's eight receiving TDs this season ... The Auburn defense has had at least one interception in seven straight games dating back to last season ... RB Carnell Williams came one yard shy of reaching 100 yards, breaking a streak of three straight triple digit games ... Williams became the first player in school history to rush for at least one TD in six straight games ... PK Damon Duval became the school's all-time leader in points kicking with 238, surpassing Al Del Greco's career total of 236 ... QB Daniel Cobb's 65-yard TD pass to Devin Aromashodu is Cobb's career-long.

FLORIDA GATORS (4-3, 2-2 SEC)
The last time Florida lost back-to-back SEC games was in 1992 (vs. Tennessee, 14-34; vs. Miss. State, 6-30) ... By scoring margin, the Gators' loss to LSU was the worst SEC loss since 1990 (vs. Tennessee, 3-45) and the worst home loss since 1979 (vs. Alabama, 0-40) ... 17 of Florida's 25 TDs on offense have come in three minutes or less ... QB Rex Grossman moved up to 4th on Florida's career passing yardage chart with 7,559 yards ... Florida has scored 95 of its 193 points this season in the second quarter ... OG Mo Mitchell made his first career start against LSU.

GEORGIA BULLDOGS (6-0, 3-0 SEC)
WR Terrence Edwards became Georgia's career receiving yardage leader with 2,450 yards, breaking Brice Hunter's mark of 2,373 yards ... Edwards also needs 11 more catches to break Hunter's career mark of 182 receptions ... He already has a school-record 24 TD catches ... Georgia has blocked three punts and two field goals this season ... Georgia is 6-0 for the first time since 1982, when it last won the SEC Championship ... UGA recorded its first win over an top 10 team at Sanford Stadium since beating No. 6 Clemson in 1991. Since then Georgia was 0-4 ... Georgia has now won three straight vs. Tennessee.

KENTUCKY WILDCATS (4-2, 0-2 SEC)
RB Artose Pinner had his fourth 100+ rushing yardage game of the season against South Carolina, gaining 117 yards on 25 carries ... With 1,405 career yards, Pinner is now 16th in Wildcat history ... QB Jared Lorenzen has thrown a TD pass in every game this season ... UK has had the same 11 starters on defense for every game this season ... Since 1993, it is the first time UK has had the same starters on defense for six consecutive games ... UK has led at halftime in five of six games this season ... Kentucky had a 10-0 lead against South Carolina at intermission.

LSU TIGERS (5-1, 2-0 SEC)
LSU's win over Florida was the first for the Tigers against a Top-25 ranked team on the road since defeating #14 Auburn in 1996 ... LSU is 17-0 under Nick Saban when scoring at least 25 points ... Opponents have not scored on LSU on its first possession in six games this season and eight over all ... CB Corey Webster, a converted wide receiver, intercepted three Gator passes, tying a school record set by five others ... Webster also had two interceptions earlier this season against Miss. State ... RS/RB Domanick Davis had 163 all-purpose rushing yards and WR Devery Henderson had two TD catches.

OLE MISS REBELS (5-1, 2-0 SEC)
QB Eli Manning is now tied with Romaro Miller for the school-record with 43 career TD passes ... Manning had three against Arkansas State ... The last time the Rebels topped 50 points in a regulation game was 56 against Indiana State in 1995 ... Last year, the Rebs had 56 in a 7OT loss to Arkansas ... Junior WR Chris Collins had one catch for 36 yards, giving him 15 straight games with at least one completion ... Ole Miss has won 24 of its last 25 regular season games against non-conference foes, and including bowl games, have won 28 of its last 30 against non-SEC teams.

MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS (2-4, 0-3 SEC)
MSU's six interceptions against Troy State tied a school record for the most ever, matching the Bulldogs' six "oskies" against Arkansas in 1939 ... State's defense now has recorded at least one interception in 42 of its last 54 games played and has two-or-more pickoffs in 22 of those 42 games ... Fr. DOG Darren Williams became only the fourth player in MSU history to have at least three interceptions in a single game (school-record 4) ... SE Terrell Grindle has moved to 5th in school history with 103 career reeptions and has caught at least one pass in 20 straight games.

SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS (5-2, 3-1 SEC)
DE Jason Capers drew his first career start for Carolina, in place of Dennis Quinn (ankle sprain) ... Ryan Brewer has caught at least one pass in 31 straight games, which is third in USC history (34 by Sterling Sharpe, Jermale Kelly) ... CB Dunta Robinson had an interception against Kentucky, giving him four for the season, which is second in the SEC ... QB Corey Jenkins' 59-yard completion to Troy Williamson against UK is the longest for the Gamecocks this season ... Carolina has had four-game win streaks in each of the last three seasons ... USC trailed at halftime (10-0) for only the second time this season.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS (4-2, 1-2 SEC)
True frosh James Banks played most of the game at QB for the Vols, subbing for injured Casey Clausen (shoulder) ... Banks connected on 10-of-15 passes for 168 yards and a TD and rushed 14 times for 35 yards ... RB Derrick Tinsley caught Banks' pass for a 33-yard TD and also threw a 5-yard TD pass to TE Jason Witten ... The Vol defense limited Georgia to 62 yards rushing on 32 carries ... The Vols have had three of its FG attempts blocked this season ... UT's last road loss was a 21-10 decision at Georgia in 2000, the last game Clausen did not start.

VANDERBILT COMMODORES (1-5, 0-3 SEC)
Commodore starting TB Norval McKenzie is likely to miss the remainder of the 2002 season after suffering a fractured right fibula during practice on Oct. 9 ... PK/P Greg Johnson had six punts for a 53.0 yard average and hit two field goals (18,25 yards) ... QB Benji Walker, subbing for the suspended Jay Cutler, completed 13-of-23 passes for 107 yards and had 79 yards rushing on 15 attempts ... WR Dan Stricker moved into 8th place in SEC history for career receiving yards with 2,570 and also is tied for 15th in career receptions with 159 in SEC history.
