Troy won the tip, but Bama took the lead 6-0 on two dunks by Hendrix and a lay up by Riley. After a couple of Troy baskets (one by Jonus), Hendrix made two more baskets with another dunk to make it 10-4.
At the first time-out at the 15:16 mark, the Tide only managed one more basket, and Troy came roaring back to make it 12-11 Bama. After only one more Tide basket, Troy took its first lead at 13:21 mark 14-12.
At the 11:15 mark, Troy extended its lead to 21-14. Alabama then reeled off three unanswered baskets to narrow the lead to 21-20 Troy ahead. Troy then answered with two jumpers with one of those being a three pointer.
After a Hillman lay up, Troy's Jonus hit a three pointer and was fouled in the process. After converting the free throw, Troy was ahead 30-22. Bama went on a run with four unanswered baskets (with two being Hendrix at close range and two dunks by Riley and Pickett). At the 7:34 mark.
Troy called time out to stop the run with it tied at 30 a piece. After trading baskets back in forth, Bama made some separation with a Gee jumper and two threes by Tubbs to take a 46-38 lead. Troy would make a three before the half to make it 46-41.
Jonus lead Troy at the half with 10 points, while Alabama was lead by Hendrix's 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second half, Bama was able to keep a comfortable lead until the 12:34 mark when Troy drawed within two at 63-61. Troy's Jonus would make a runner to tie the game at 63 all. Troy would take the lead at 65-64 at the 11:42 mark.
Troy would only make one more basket for the rest of the game as Bama wins 84-72 despite 25 turnovers.
