The Tide came out ahead in first downs, rushing yards, passing yards, total yards, punting average and third down conversions.

Because Bama scored so quickly, Mississippi had a slight edge in time of possession. And of course the Rebels ended up with a big lead in kickoff return yardage.

Santonio Beard was both leading rusher (138 yards) and scorer (30 points). The junior tailback carried the ball 13 times for a 10.6 yards average, and his five rushing touchdowns tied an Alabama record. Beard also contributed one pass reception for seven yards. (Associated Press)
