Big Weekend in T-Town

The University of Alabama is set for another big recruiting weekend and will host several top prospects and commitments. Only a few spots remain in the Crimson Tide's 2008 signing class, and the recruiting battles are about to turn up a notch during the next few weeks. takes a look at the prospects who are expected to take official visits this weekend along with several cancellations.

T.J. Bryant

The top overall prospect expected is T.J. Bryant, five-star cornerback from Tallahassee-Lincoln, (Fla.). Bryant could re-schedule his visit to a later date, but as of now he plans to visit Tuscaloosa this weekend. Bryant has narrowed his list of favorites to Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami and Southern Cal.

Marcel Dareus

Marcel Dareus, four-star defensive tackle from Birmingham-Huffman, (Ala.), has really escalated on the recruiting scene. His reported score of 18 on the ACT has college coaches very interested in his signature. Alabama is the front-runner, and his brother, Demerius, will visit as well

Alonzo Lawrence, four-star cornerback from Lucedale-George County, (Miss.), had a terrific senior season and followed it with a sensational performance in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game. Lawrence has listed Alabama as his top school for a while, but Ole Miss and LSU have turned up the heat on the elite defensive back. He is now open with his recruitment.

Omoregi Uzzi

Omoregi Uzzi, four-star offensive guard from Chamblee, (Ga.), and Nick Beckton, three-star offensive tackle from Wilmington-New Hanover, (N.C.), are expected this weekend. The Tide may look to add one offensive lineman to the class.

Glenn Harbin

Glenn Harbin, three-star defensive end from Mobile-McGill-Tollen, (Ala.), will officially visit Alabama this weekend followed by visits to North Carolina, South Carolina, LSU and Florida. He lists Alabama and Florida as the top two schools.

Aundre Dean

Two running backs are expected to visit with Mark Ingram, three-star from Flint-Southwester, (Mich.), on tap for this weekend, and Aundre Dean, four-star from Katy, Texas, visiting Monday.

Ivan Matchett

Numerous Alabama commitments will visit this weekend including Mark Barron, Ivan Matchett, Destin Hood, Melvin Ray, Brad Smelley, Damian Square, Robby Green, Courtney Upshaw, Wesley Neighbors and Barrett Jones.

Melvin Ray

Several prospects who were expected to visit Alabama have canceled their weekend plans. They include Toby Jackson, four-star defensive end from Griffin, (Ga.), and Jerico Nelson, three-star running back from Destrehan, (La.).

Toby Jackson

The South Panola group of Quinn Sanford, Darius Barksdale, Bud Barksdale and Terrance Pope have canceled their trip to Alabama this weekend.

Alabama commitment Burton Scott will visit Auburn this weekend. Robert Lester was scheduled to visit Florida State, but as of Thursday the visit had been canceled.
