We're Number Three!
Alabama opened up its season with a 196.300 score to beat Big 10 foe Illinois at home Friday night. It was the second highest opening-meet score in Tide history. Sophomore All-American Kassi Price led the Tide, winning the season-opening all-around competition for the second year in a row.
Alabama is ranked second on the floor exercise, fourth on the balance beam, fifth on the uneven bars and 11th on the vault.
Individually, Price is ninth in the all-around while freshman Kayla Hoffman is 11th. Hoffman and Price are tied at No. 4 on the floor exercise while senior Kaitlin White is ranked 20th. Price is also ranked third on the uneven bars and White is 16th.
Sophomore Casey Overton is ranked ninth and junior All-American Brittany Magee and sophomore Ricki Lebegern are tied for 16th on the balance beam. Hoffman is eighth on the vault and sophomore All-American Morgan Dennis is ranked sixteenth.
The Crimson Tide takes on Auburn this Friday on the Plains in its first road meet of the season. The meet begins at 7 p.m. at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum and is the Tigers' annual "Pink Meet" to raise breast cancer awareness. An auction will be held to raise money for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation. Both teams will compete in pink leotards.
