Barrett Jones Expected to Lead

Barrett Jones, four-star offensive tackle from Cordova-Evangelical Christian, (Tenn.), is a solid commitment to the University of Alabama. He was in Tuscaloosa Saturday through Monday for an official visit and called to talk about the trip to Alabama.

"I had a great time," Barrett Jones said. "Everything went smoothly. I met some new people and a lot of the same guys. It was weird realizing we are going to be future teammates in a few months."

"My hosts were Charlie Higgenbotham and Charlie Kirschman. I also met the Georgia Tech transfer (Colin Peek). It was really cool. I talked to Tyler Love and Morgan Ogilvie the most. I met Brad Smelley, Melvin Ray, Courtney Upshaw and Omoregie Uzzi."

"It was good getting to know the players and the coaches. I spent an hour with coach [Joe] Pendry. I learned his principles and philosophies. I love spending time with him. He cracks me up. He is enjoyable to be around."

"Coach [Nick] Saban and I just talked about life and how things were going. He wanted this class to be the foundation of what the program is trying to do. He wants leaders not only on the football field, but in the classroom as well. He expects me to be one of those leaders."

"It was cool going to his house. It was neat. He had a sweet breakfast bar."

The four-star prospect is an excellent student and will enroll at Alabama in June. He is eager to arrive on campus and learn more of his future position.

"Right now I am 6-5, 280-pounds," Jones said. "I am not sure where I am going to play yet. Coach Pendry said we would go into summer practice and see where I could play the fastest."
