Recruiting profile: Patrick Hamilton, FB

A small-school phenom from McKenzie, Alabama, Patrick Hamilton is being recruited by several schools as a combination fullback/linebacker.

Through eight games this season, Hamilton has amassed 925 yards on 84 carries, which works out to slightly more than 11 yards per rush. He also has 12 receptions for 108 yards. Hamilton has scored 15 touchdowns on the ground and two via the pass.

On defense he is credited with 108 tackles.

The Tide staff has been watching him since last spring. Hamilton (6-1, 245) recently took an unofficial visit to Alabama for the Ole Miss game.

A dedicated player who works hard and is a leader among his teammates, Hamilton is getting strong feelers from MTSU, Southern Miss, LSU and Troy State. Both Alabama and Auburn see him primarily as a fullback.

Despite being overlooked for all-state honors, Hamilton was selected MVP of his high school team after an outstanding junior season. That year the McKenzie native rushed for 1055 yards on only 146 carries (7.2 yards per carry) and scored 14 touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 182 yards and two more TDs.

On defense, Hamilton garnered 131 tackles as a junior.

Hamilton has been clocked at 4.70 in the 40-yard dash.

Hamilton bench presses 315 pounds and parallel squats 525. He carries a 2.59 core GPA and will took the ACT for the first time in late September.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Given the Tide's limited scholarships this year, it's unlikely that Hamilton will receive an offer from Alabama. But he would certainly be welcomed as a potential walk-on.
