John Michael Boswell
6-6, 305, OT/OG
Tuscaloosa County (Northport)
Scout.com three-star recruit

Why Alabama?: "I love Alabama. It's right here in town. I have always been an Alabama fan. A lot of my family are Alabama fans. I like the coaches. It felt like a family atmosphere. The show you a lot of love," Boswell said.

On Coach Nick Saban as a recruiter: "I think he is a great recruiter. He talks about football. He is down to business, but off the field he is the perfect good guy. He talks about everyday stuff. He makes you feel real comfortable. He wants to talk about your interests."

Coach Robert Higginbotham: "You couldn't ask for a better player and a better person. He has just been a real joy to work with. He's the type of player that comes out every day and works hard to get better. He's been so much bigger and better than everyone else pretty much his whole career, but it's really a tribute to him that he's worked hard to improve and continue to get better."

"It's kind of ironic. His dad is an Auburn guy. His mom is an Alabama fan, so he stuck with his mom on this. I know that being here (Tuscaloosa/Northport) growing up this close to the University of Alabama as he has been that it was a big factor in his decision."

"I think he's going to have a great career. For offensive linemen you like to see them get redshirted. I think it's good for all of them to be able to do that, but I think he's good enough to play next year probably. Whether he gets redshirted or not I think they are going to get four good years out of him."

"He's been about the most decorated player I've ever had I guess. For sure lineman. He made All-State, and a lot of people don't know this. It will come out in the USA Today in February. He made the Red Zone Player of the Year for the state of Alabama, and he made both of those All-Star teams."

Bio: An ASWA All-State first-team offensive lineman as a senior and an All-State selection as a junior. Boswell made The Tuscaloosa News All-Star Team as a senior, Red Zone Player of the Year State of Alabama USA Today, Press Register Super Southeast 120, Press Register Elite 18 Offensive Lineman, AL/MS All-Star Game, Under Armour All-Star Game Orlando, and ScoutSouth.com Star of Alabama. He graded 96-percent in blocking for his senior season. Boswell was named ASWA All-State first team offensive lineman in 2006 as well.

Analysis: Boswell is a player who will need a redshirt year to adapt to the college level. Boswell excels at pass blocking and is a good run blocker. He has power to move people out of the way. He has a great work ethic and could become an All-SEC lineman.
