Alonzo Lawrence has signed and faxed his letter of intent to the University of Alabama. Lawrence and his coach discuss the decision.

Why Alabama?: "I really like the Alabama coaching staff, and I like all the guys over there. They are putting together a great group, and I think they are going to win the national championship."

"They are all about winning championships, and that is what we are going to do. I am coming to Alabama next year with the mind-set on winning the national championship."

On coach Nick Saban as a recruiter: "My relationship with coach Saban is really strong. He is a defensive backs' coach, and that played a big factor in my decision. He can help me develop and one day play in the league."

Bio: Lawrence recorded 97 tackles, (74 solo), four sacks, seven forced fumbles, two fumbles recoveries, two fumbles returned for touchdowns and three interceptions. Lawrence also had 30 receptions for 772 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also returned five kick-offs and one punt for touchdowns.

2007 Awards: Parade Magazine All-American Team, AJC Super Southern 100 defensive back, No.8 on Press Register's Super Southeast 120, Alabama Mississippi All-Star Game, First team All-State Clarion Ledger, All-State 5A first team cornerback in 2006. Younger brother of former Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen selection Co-Eric Riley of Mississippi State.

Analysis: Lawrence is a special talent and could star on either side of the ball at the college level. He is aggressive and very confident. He is great in coverage and loves to lay big hits. He is a major pick up for the Tide.
