"Just a real special young man."

Mark Ingram has signed and faxed his letter of intent to the University of Alabama.

Flint Southwestern Academy standout running back Mark Ingram possesses two things very attractive to Coach Nick Saban. He has the physicality he desires and the character and polish he so obviously looked for in this class.

Ingram went through a tumultuous year with his team with player and coach suspensions, but he was a constant for his team. Carrying the ball 192 times for 1,699 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns. Defensively Ingram had 33 tackles and two interceptions.

Ingram was honored by the Detroit Free Press as Offensive Dream Team First Team RB.

Coach Gary Lee (talks of what Ingram has meant to his high school team) "Just everything. Ultimate leader, tremendous player, great student. Just a real special young man. Really special."

"First of all I think that he's been blessed with a lot of God-given talent, but he's not one of those kids that is blessed with that kind of talent and won't work hard. He works very hard. With the tremendous amount of ability he has and his willingness to work it sets him apart from a lot of kids."

We asked what he saw in Ingram's future. "I think he"s going to be very successful because of his work ethic." he said. "Any coach knows that once you get to the collegiate level you have people with the same types of talent. A lot of times it comes down to which kid works the hardest, and he's willing to work. I think that's why he's going to be successful."

Why Alabama ?

"When he went down on his visit he got back home, and he told me that he liked the way that all the kids talked about winning championships. It wasn't about themselves it was about the team and that really impressed him because he's that kind of person. He is that kind of young man that it's about the team. and it's about winning championships and he just felt really comfortable with all the guys."
