Junior Day in Tuscaloosa

The University of Alabama will host their second annual Junior Day Saturday with several prospects from around the Southeast expected in attendance. Scout.com takes a look at who is scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa.

Dre Kirkpatrick (Gadsden City), five-star cornerback and nation's No.1 defensive back, is the headliner of the group. Kirkpatrick has received over 30 offers including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Miami and USC. He does not list any favorites.


Kendall Kelly

Kirkpatrick's teammate, Kendall Kelly, is rated as the fourth best receiver in the country and has several of the same offers as Kirkpatrick with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU and North Carolina. He grew up an Alabama fan, but does not list any favorites.


Nico Johnson

Nico Johnson, the nation's second best middle linebacker and future five-star from Andalusia, (Ala.), has confirmed his weekend plans. Johnson grew up a big Alabama fan, and an early decision is a great possibility. He has recently added offers from Texas A&M, Oregon and USC.


Tana Patrick

Another top in-state National 100 linebacker who plans to visit is Tana Patrick(Stephenson-North Jackson). Patrick has received offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, USC and several others. He does not have any favorites and does not plan to make an early decision.


Tim Simon

Two top two running backs, Orwin Smith (Central-Phenix City) and Tim Simon (Cordova), both expect to visit. Smith has received an offer from Alabama, and also holds offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and UAB. Simon holds offers from Mississippi State and Kentucky with the Tide showing interest


Raymond Cotton

The state's top quarterback, AJ McCarron (Mobile-St. Paul's), does not plan to visit Tuscaloosa until the A-Day game. Another Port City native who will visit this weekend is Raymond Cotton (Faith Academy). Cotton's name is starting to emerge on recruiting radars after a great showing at the Scout.com Combine in Mobile. He received his first offer from Auburn.


Quinton Dial

Alabama is loaded with defensive lineman in the class of 2009 and several are expected in for Junior Day. Quinton Dial (Clay-Chalkville), Jamar Travis (Brewton-W.S. Neal) and Anthony Orr (Harvest-Sparkman), all have received offers from Alabama. Jamontay Pilson (Greenville) is a candidate for a scholarship offer.


Mujahid Assad

A few Williamson stars from Mobile are expected including one Auburn commitment. Terrence Coleman, Scout.com 300 defensive tackle, committed to the Tigers over a week ago and plans to visit Alabama. His teammates, wide receivers Mujahid Assad and LaVoyd James, will join him at the Capstone for the day.


Gerald West

Two other big name prospects expected are cornerback Gerald West (Mobile-Davidson), and wide receiver Mardrecas Hood (Reform-Pickens County). West and Hood have received offers from Alabama.


Damario Jeffrey

Alabama has hit the Carolinas hard this year with a few expected including Damario Jeffrey and Chris Payne from Columbia, (S.C.), Chris Bonds, four-star defensive end from Columbia-Richland Northeast, (S.C.), Alshoun Jeffrey and David Sims from Saint Matthews-Calhoun County, (S.C.) and Terry Shankle from Norwood-South Stanly (N.C.).


Rueben Randle

Alabama continues to recruit the state of Louisiana with the state's top prospect, five-star receiver Reuben Randle (Bastrop), considering a trip to Tuscaloosa. He expects to confirm plans late Friday or early Saturday.


Joey Fontana

Alabama failed to land Tyler Edwards in the class of 2008, but another prospect from Ouachita Parish expected is Montrell Conner a Scout.com 300 running back. Joey Fontana, offensive guard from New Orleans-Brother Martin, will arrive as well.


Chris Garrett

A few of Mississippi's best have Tuscaloosa circled on their calendar this weekend including Scout.com 300 members and Tupelo teammates quarterback Chris Garrett and cornerback Chad Bumphis, Josh Boyd (Philadelphia), Scout.com 300 defensive end, and defensive end Fletcher Cox (Yazoo City).

Tide running back Glenn Coffee's younger brother, linebacker Matt Coffee (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.), is scheduled for Junior Day.

This is an unofficial list of some of the prospects Scout.com expects to visit Tuscaloosa this weekend with names always added or subtracted as travel plans change throughout the weekend.
