Sam Simpson Visits Alabama

Lexington, Ky---Offensive lineman Sam Simpson took an unofficial visit to Alabama this past weekend and liked what he saw.

"The visit went really well," said the Henry Clay High School standout. "Alabama speaks for itself, both from a football and academic perspective. I really like everyone down there. I'm planning on going back down in July to camp at Alabama."

Sam Simpson, who is considering majoring in Law or Business, gave positive reviews to all the facilities at Alabama, from the football complex to the business school, and came away highly impressed by the Alabama coaching staff.

"I really like [Offensive Line] Coach [Joe] Pendry, the guy who's recruiting me, and Coach Saban," he said. "They're both straightforward kind of guys in that they don't give you any recruiting jargon. Some people do, but they're old-school kind of guys, and I really respect that about both of them."

Simpson, who claims offers from over 20 schools, says that no one school really stands out to him at the moment as far as a favorite. He lists Virginia, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Tennessee as five schools that stand out most. As far as when he'll decide, he has only just begun to take visits and really try and break down each school.

"If I know where I want to go, I'll go ahead and commit," said Simpson. "It's possible I could have a decision by late summer or during my senior season."

He plans to attend a couple of one-day camps, hopefully at the schools where he has the most interest.

"I'm definitely going to the Big Man camp they have at UK with my high school team," he stated. "I'm going to Virginia on June 22, and I'm looking to go to one of Vandy's senior camps. Hopefully I can make it back to Alabama in July."
