James Carpenter inks with the Tide
"I was real excited about faxing in my signature to Alabama this morning," said James Carpenter. "I am glad it's over with and to get to Alabama."
Carpenter will watch bowl practices from the sidelines as the Tide prepares to take on Utah in the Sugar Bowl.
"The coaches want me to watch and learn," Carpenter explained. "I will start practicing in the spring."
Carpenter reports his current size as 6-foot-5, 295 pounds.
"I hope to improve on everything," he stated. "I am going to work very hard to earn a starting spot on the offensive line. They want me to come in at left tackle, but if that doesn't work out I'll fight for a starting job at left guard or right tackle."
The Crimson Tide went undefeated during the regular season, but lost the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.
"They were amazing," Carpenter commented. "They went 12-1 and playing in a BCS Bowl. It was a great year, but we are going to have an even better year next year and go undefeated."
