Rueben Randle headlines the weekend

Tuscaloosa, Ala.- The Alabama coaching staff will welcome prospects for their official visits this weekend with the nation's top receiver as the headliner. Former Crimson Tide assistant coach Lance Thompson is now at Tennessee, and three of Alabama's commitments will visit who were specifically recruited by him.

Rueben Randle, five-star wide receiver from Bastrop, La., has visited Tuscaloosa several times including a trip for a Sugar Bowl practice. He has taken an official visit to Oklahoma (11/22), and will visit LSU (1/23). His decision is not expected until National Signing Day.

Randle will see a few familiar faces when he visits in Nico Johnson, five-star middle linebacker from Andalusia and AJ McCarron, four-star quarterback from Mobile-St. Paul's. Johnson and McCarron were teammates with Randle on the West squad in the U.S. Army All-American game.

McCarron and Johnson were recruited by Lance Thompson, but his departure has not changed any feelings toward their commitment to Alabama.

Darrington Sentimore, four-star defensive tackle from Destrehan, La., recently received an offer from LSU. He told the Tigers no thank you. He is solid to Alabama and will try to help persuade another Louisiana native to join him at Alabama.

Three other out-of-state commitments who will visit include Kellen Williams, three-star offensive tackle from Snellville-Brookwood, Ga., Jonathan Atchison, three-star strongside linebacker from Atlanta-Douglass, Ga., and Anthony Steen, three-star offensive guard from Clarksdale-Lee Academy, Miss.

Lance Thompson was the recruiting coach and position coach for Atchison. The Atlanta native has gone through a coaching change already. Atchison originally committed to Auburn, but he switched to Alabama after the departure of coach Tommy Tuberville. He is solid with the Tide and does not plan to visit any other schools even after Thompson decided to leave for Tennessee.

One player who will not visit is Morgan Moses, four-star offensive tackle from Richmond-Meadowbrook, Va. A family conflict this weekend changed his travel plans and not certain another date is on tap for Tuscaloosa.

Petey Smith, three-star middle linebacker from Seffner-Armwood, Fla., has been recruited by coach Jim McElwain throughout the recruiting process. Smith rescheduled the visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend after canceling the last visit. He is the brother of Auburn running back Eric Smith.

Justin Green, four-star cornerback from Lexington-Male, Ky., is tentatively expected to visit Tuscaloosa. The Ohio State commitment's plans for this weekend have not been confirmed.
