A-Day Game Set For April 18

The University of Alabama will hold its annual A-Day Game to conclude spring football practice on Saturday, April 18 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Admission will again be free to the public and kickoff is tentatively set for 2 p.m. CDT. Further details on television coverage and events surrounding A-Day will be released at a later date.

The Alabama football team of Coach Nick Saban is tentatively scheduled to hold the first spring practice of 2009 on March 23. UA spring break is the week prior, March 16-20.

Over the last two seasons, Alabama leads the country in spring game attendance with a combined total of 170,338. UA set a college football record in the spring of 2007 as a capacity crowd of 92,138 watched head coach Nick Saban's first A-Day at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Last year's attendance of 78,200 led the SEC and was the second-largest in the country.

Although Alabama had one practice session following the A-Day Game last year (when spring practice was interrupted by The University's spring break), there was no indication of practices beyond A-Day in the Friday announcement.

Alabama will be looking for replacements at quarterback, tailback, tight end and three offensive line positions on offense and at defensive end and safety on defense.
