Signee update: Anthony Steen

Anthony Steen, offensive guard from Lee Academy in Clarksdale, Miss., signed with the Crimson Tide in the class of 2009. The strong man from the Magnolia State is anxious to arrive in Tuscaloosa.

Q&A with Tide signee Anthony Steen:

Johnathan Franco: What is your current height, weight, bench and squat?
Anthony Steen: "6-foot-4, 310…bench max 400."

JF: What is your offseason workout routine?

AS: "Track right now…shot and disc."

JF: What part of your game do you think you could improve the most?
AS: "Maybe my speed a little bit."

JF: What is the strongest part of your game?
AS: "My strength, and my speed."

JF: What does the staff like about you most?
AS: "How strong and how quick I was."

JF: Which teammates do you keep up with the most?
AS: "I really don't know anybody yet. I only know one person. Kellen Williams, and the only reason I know him is because I was with him on my official visit."

JF: Who are the coaches you speak with the most?
AS: "Bo Davis."

JF: When did you know Alabama was the right school for you and which other schools recruited the hardest?
AS: "I always liked Alabama, and when they offered I knew I was gonna go there. Southern Miss."

JF: What's your favorite thing to do when not playing football?

AS: "Track. I just had the state meet and broke the shotput record. The record was 58.5, and I had 58.9 and a 1/4. I almost beat the discus record too. I threw 178.1, and the record was 179.2."
