Will Choice choose to visit?

With Alabama potentially looking to sign one more tailback in this year's class, Tashard Choice of Jonesboro, Georgia, has emerged as a possibility for the Tide.

Where will he choose to go this weekend?

From watching film, Tashard Choice (6-1, 205, 4.45) is a powerful straight-ahead runner who would be ideal for new Tide Head Coach Mike Price's one-back offensive set.

"I'm scheduled to take an official visit to Alabama this weekend," Choice told BamaMag.com earlier this week.

(NOTE: other network reports have Choice visiting Michigan State this weekend.)

Choice has very good speed, showing the ability to accelerate through holes between the tackles and turn them into big gainers. He is shifty in traffic and has an extra gear when he spots an opening.

Competing for Atlanta area Lovejoy High School, Choice carried the ball his senior year 129 times for 1200 yards (9.30 yards per carry) and 15 Touchdowns. Plus, he caught passes for 600 yards and two scores. Choice made second team All State as a senior and was named his Region's Overall (offense and defense combined) Most Valuable Player.

With most of their attention focused on Tim Castille and LeRon McClain, Tide fans haven't heard much of Choice. But that could change soon.

"I was interested in Alabama with the old staff," Choice said. "But now that the new staff has come in, I have an even bigger interest."

Choice finished his junior year with 900 yards on 185 carries (4.86 yards per carry) with 17 TDs. He also caught 35 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns. As a bonus he had 482 yards in kickoff returns. He was selected first team All Area and first team All Atlanta after his junior year.

The Lovejoy star is related to former baseball great, Tim Raines (Expos, Yankees, Marlins).

Choice bench presses 325 pounds and squats 500. He sports a 36-inch vertical jump.

Carrying a 3.9 GPA, Choice has scored 990 on the SAT, so qualifying will not be a concern.

He has previously tripped to Mississippi State (1-24) and Oklahoma (1-29). Georgia Tech, Oregon State, Stanford and West Virginia are also in the mix for Choice's signature.

Choice's teammate, Mike Heard, a defensive end/linebacker prospect is expected to make the trip to Alabama this weekend as well.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Since Choice has told other TheInsiders.com writers that he is visiting Michigan State, the young man is obviously undecided. BamaMag.com will be looking to confirm one way or another whether or not Choice is visiting Alabama or Michigan State. But since he has been linked to the Tide, we wanted to provide our readers with his profile.

Yes, it is confusing. But that's just how the recruiting process works sometimes.
